DUST
ABOUT SPACE AND TIME
Extract from the memory project
May 2012
When my neighbours died in 2012, his niece gave me access to their home to photograph it. Emptying the property she found, among the belongings, old photographic glass plates that gave me in order to scan them and containing the patina of the deterioration (dust, scratches, fingerprints...), remnants of memory captured in old family pictures.
In
Dust, these intimates memories are decontextualized by large-scale details of the crystals, changing its contents into imaginary landscapes which do not share neighborhood references, only vague fragments of the past life. A work which tries to reflect how the memories are being blurred as the time goes by.
